Army extends winning run in Dhorpatan women’s volleyball

KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club has extended its lead at the top of the table continuing its winning run in the ongoing 14th Red Bull Dhorpatan Suzuki Women’s Double League Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday.

KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club has extended its lead at the top of the table continuing its winning run in the ongoing 14th Red Bull Dhorpatan Suzuki Women’s Double League Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday. 


At the Dhorpatan Club’s Sports Ground at Gongabu in Kathmandu, Army defeated Samakhusi English Boarding (SEB) School in straight sets to extend its winning run in the tournament. Despite losing the game on straight sets, SEB had presented Army with a tough battle in the game. 


Army won the game 31-29, 25-19, 25-20.

With the win, Army has accumulated 12 points from the four games it has played so far. 


On the same day, the other departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) Club pressurized Army at the top by winning two straight matches on the day. 


The defending champion has also won all its game, accumulating nine points from the three matches it has played so far. The score puts the team in the second position. 


In the first match, APF defeated SEB School on straight sets of 25-8, 25-14, 25-18, while it saw off Thaha Municipality of Makawanpur 25-7, 25-11, 25-12, on straight sets as well. 


Also, the other departmental team Nepal Police Club has won two games with 25-8, 25-9, 25-8 straight sets win over Shree Gaun Sports Development Committee of Dang. It has won both its games in the league and has accumulated six points. The tournament will run till February 2.
