KATHMANDU, June 18: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Prabhu Ram Sharma left for Lebanon on Saturday for an official visit, leading a seven-member team.
CoAS Sharma went to Lebanon to seek information about the future plans of the UN mission and to encourage the troops deployed for peace in the conflict-affected areas. Vice COAS Lt Gen Bal Krishna Karki bid farewell to the delegation led by the army chief at the VIP lounge of the Tribhuvan International Airport.
In the course of their visit, the CoAS-led delegation will acquire information about the situation of missions, the operational activities and the condition of troop's mobilization, among other aspects of the peace missions.
Similarly, following the observation tour in Lebanon and Syria, CoAS Sharma is scheduled to visit the United States of America from June 27 to July 1 at the invitation of his US counterpart.
