KATHAMNDU, Sept 30: Arjun Barnabal of Nepal Byayam Mandir on Friday was crowned with the title of the 14th Dharma Shree Bodybuilding Championship. Arjun who competed in above 80 kg weight category finished favorite Maheshwar Maharjan, the winner of recently held Asian Bodybuilding Championship, who competed in the 80 kg category.
After being crowned the champion of Dharma Shree held at the Nepal Academy Hall, Kamaladi, Arjun was rewarded with a purse of Rs 500,000, trophy and certificate. Maheshwar, who finished second, was rewarded with Rs 200,000 along with trophy and certificate. Umesh Rai of Greenwich Fitness Jhapa, competitor of 75 kg section stood third and was rewarded with purse of Rs 100,000 and trophy.
Nepal Byayam Mandir bodybuilder -- Ram Hari Khanal (70 kg), Ram Bahadur Dahal (65 kg), Sanjeev Kumar Shrestha (60 kg) secured fourth to sixth positions and received prizes of Rs 80,000, Rs 75,000 and Rs 60,000 respectively. Similarly, Kamal Bhandari (55 kg) of Ratna Shree (Pokhara) finished seventh and earned Rs 50,000.
All first to seventh places finishers had secured place for the title contention as the champions of their respective weight categories.
Meanwhile, Prakash Rai of Planet Fitness and Girish Maharjan of Nepal Byayam secured second and third positions in the above 80 kg weight category. Similarly, the 80 kg weight category saw Tul Bahadur Shrestha of Brother and Sister and Naresh Malakar of New Flex earn second and third places.
In the 75 kg category, Mr Kathmandu, Nabin Rana of Nepal Gym and Prawesh Shrestha of Shape To Fitness stood second and third. The 70 kg section saw Rajesh Magar of Shape Fitness and Kiran Yadav of Shape to Fitness secured second and third positions.
Anil Lal Shrestha of Complete Health and Bikash Dimal of Yaro Fitness finished second and third in 65 kg section. Ashis Dewaju of Nepal Byayam Mandir and Ramesh Karki of New Flex stood second and third in 60 kg category.
Suresh Gurung of Bulls Gym and Sabin Maharjan of Kalimati Friendship earned second and third positions respectively in the 55 kg section.
The second and third place finishers of each weight categories were given cash prizes of Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively. Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun awarded the winners of the event organized by Nepal Byayam Mandir.
