KATHMANDU, Sept 28: Nepal Byayam Mandir is organizing the 14th edition of biennale bodybuilding competition Dharma Shree Bodybuilding Championship on Thursday and Friday in the capital.
The event organized to commemorate martyr Dharma Bhakta Mathema, the founder of modern bodybuilding in Nepal, will see bodybuilders competing in seven weight categories.
The event sponsored by Gionee mobile will see bodybuilders competing in 55 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 75 kg, 80 kg and above 80 kg weight categories in the prejudging round. The prejudging round will be held at the Nepal Police Academy, Maharajgunj on Thursday.
The winner of each weight category in the prejudging round will qualify for the final round of the event to be played on the following day at Nepal Academy Hall, Kamaladi. The winner among them will be crowned Dharma Shree champion.
According to Narayan Pradhan, the president of Nepal Byayam Mandir, the expected cost of the event is Rs 3.4 million and the champion will walk home with a purse of Rs 500,000 and trophy. Similarly, the second to seventh place finishers will get richer by Rs 200,000, Rs 100,000, Rs 80,000, Rs 75,000, Rs 60,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. The runner-up and second runner-up bodybuilders of each weight categories will be awarded with Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.
