Archery team off to China

KATHMANDU, Nov 17: A six-member archery team left for Guangzhou, China, on Wednesday to participate in the 16th Asian Games being held there.



Four male players --Prem Prasad Pun, Jit Bahadur Moktan, Asim Sherchan and Ramesh Prasad Bhattachan-- are participating in the event.[break]



They will compete in men´s singles and team event. Kishor Kumar Gurung is the coach and Shailesh Karmacharya is the manager of the squad.



Nepal Archery Association President Laxman Kumar Shrestha among others bade farewell to the team at the Tribhuvan International Airport.



Skylark in QF



Skylark School advanced into the quarterfinals of the junior boys´ category in the Second Teresa Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Wednesday. Skylark edged out ODC International 32-27 in the match held at the court of Teresa Academy to book a quarterfinal berth as group leaders.



Likewise, the hosts Teresa and New Shrine also booked quarterfinal berths as group leaders and runners-up respectively from group ´D´. In another match, Reliance defeated Midland 29-23. In the junior girls´ category, Kantipur thrashed Deneb 20-5 and NIMS hammered Ganesh School 32-9.



LACM A, B to meet in semis



Both the teams of Little Angels´ College of Management (LACM), Informatics ´A´ and WLC College advanced into the semifinals of the Toyota Football Frenzy inter-college five-a-side football tournament on Wednesday.



LACM ´B´ frustrated Ace Higher Secondary Sschool (HSS) 2-0 in a competitive match played at the Dasharath Stadium covered hall. Utsav Shrestha scored a brace for the winning side.



LACM ´A´ saw off Ace Institute 2-0. Despite taking the lead in the first half, Ace conceded two goals in the other half. Bishesh Lama opened the scoring for Ace but Siddhant Basnet scored the equalizer for LACM ´A´ and Sandesh Bista netted the decider. The two teams of LACM will meet in the semifinals on Thursday.



In the other quarterfinal match, Informatics ´A´ registered a 3-1 tiebreaker win over Malpi following a goalless stalemate in regulation time. WLC also beat Informatics ´B´ 3-1 in tiebreaker after a goalless draw. Informatics ´A´ will take on WLC in the other semifinal.
