APF personnel, smugglers face off in Dhanusha; four warning shots fired

DHANUSHA, Aug 7: A tense confrontation broke out Wednesday evening in Dhanusha when a group illegally smuggling goods from India clashed with the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal.



As the APF team moved in to seize the smuggled items, the smugglers launched a barrage of stones at the security forces. Responding swiftly, the APF fired four warning shots from their SLR rifles to regain control of the chaotic scene.

The incident unfolded around 8:15 PM inside a mango orchard in Duhabi, Bidheh Municipality-2. The APF squad, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and deployed from the proposed border security post at Mahinapur, intercepted the smugglers during the operation.


Tensions escalated as residents joined the smugglers in pelting stones at the officers. Despite the turmoil, the APF managed to maintain order and prevent further violence.


Though some contraband slipped away amid the chaos, police recovered a motorcycle and several grocery items at the site. The APF confirmed that these items are now with the relevant authorities for legal proceedings.
