KATHMANDU, April 9: Asian Development Bank (ADB) announced the result of climate change video competition on April 7 in Philippines, Manila. In this competition, Anup Poudel, Nepal, in the under 21 category won the first prize with his film "My Green Home".

The entries of this competition were from all the countries of Asia and Pacific. As the Asia and pacific region is more vulnerable to climate change, this video competition aided in cost-effective mitigation and adaptation measures, which nations could take to help them combat the effects. "My Green Home" is a debut short film by Anup Poudel, 20. Poudel is the first year student of bachelor´s degree at Oscar International Film College. He is doing film studies.

Anup believes that filmmaking gives him two wings to fly through his imagination. His recent works includes Mokshya (three minutes) and What More Do I Want? (three and a half minutes), which are highly appreciated.

"My Green Home" is a film about a six-year-old boy who has been assigned by his teacher to eradicate household pollutants that cause climate change. This film shows how the boy overcomes his biggest fear ´the darkness´ while on his mission.

"My Green Home" also stood in the top ten position in the British Council Climate Change Film Competition. The film was also screened at the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF), 2009.

There were several jury members including Brillante Mendoza (Won Best Director in Cannes 2009) and Jabeen Merchant (a renowned Indian film editor who has edited major Bollywood features and many award-winning documentaries).

Merchant thus commented about this film, "I got drawn into the world of the little boy protagonist - his home, family, school and his childlike concern about the ills of global warming. The film is informative, which enumerates many bad effects of climate change and spells out what people can do to help. It does this in a light-hearted way. It has a clever script, with a lovely ending that left me not just smiling but laughing out loud."
