KATHMANDU, Feb 18: Popular youth activist and anti-corruption crusader Gyanendra Shahi has joined the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). The news of Shahi joining the RPP became public with the announcement of the merger of the Shahi-led 'Our Nepal, We Nepalis Campaign' into the Rajendra Lingden-led RPP.
The unification between RPP and 'Our Nepal, Our Nepali Campaign' was declared at a program organized at RPP Central Office, Dhumbarahi on Friday. RPP Chairman Lingden welcomed Shahi into the party.
RPP General Secretary Dr Dhawal Shamsher Rana had submitted a proposal to include Shahi in the party at a meeting of the party’s office-bearers on February 15 in line with the party's policy of unity or cooperation with like-minded individuals, groups and parties.
RPP Chairman Lingden has nominated newcomer Shahi as the party's central member and a spokesperson. With Shahi’s nomination, the number of spokespersons in RPP has reached five.
