"We made sudden inspection at DoFE office and found that the department is plagued by irregularities," said NVC Chief Yagya Gautam, adding, "We have advised the centre to improve its internal management system at the earliest."[break]
The centre has asked the department to install Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at places where the process related to work permit, prior work permit and final work permit take place.
The DoFE has been asked to enlarge the size of stickers used in passports and also mention passport number and passport holder´s address in more clear and precise manner.
"It has been found that the brokers are interfering with the department´s work as they put unnecessary pressures to get individual work permit cleared," said Secretary Gautam, adding, "We have urged the DoFE to strictly prohibit the mobility of brokers and bar them from approaching department officials to get work permits." The centre has also asked the department to dissuade second person from dealing on behalf of a work permit aspirant.
"The DoFE is also required to probe whether manpower agencies have been paying revenues to the government," states the directive issued by the NVC.
According to the centre, the practice of giving and taking bribes within the DoFE to get work done is rife. "The DoFE must discourage the trend of giving and taking bribes without fail," reads the directive.
