Animal parts and trophies stored at Chitwan National Park to be destroyed on Monday

CHITWAN, May 21: Wildlife parts and trophies, stored for around 20 years, at Kasara, the headquarters of the Chitwan National Park are going to be destroyed on Monday. 

The body parts and trophies of the wild animals are going to be destroyed in the presence of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, different ministers, state ministers, Department Chiefs, members of the National Planning Commission, representatives of donor agencies, media persons and representatives of buffer zones. 

Animal parts and trophies, collected at national parks, wildlife reserves, district forest office, among others of the country, was being stored at Office of Chitwan National Park, Kasara and Armed Forest Guard Training Centre, Tikauli, since 2054 BS. 

Chief Conservation Officer of the Chitwan national Park, Ram Chandra Kandel, said that the animal parts and trophies are going to be destroyed by organising a special programme as it was very challenging to keep them secured for a long time. 

Kandel said that sample of the animal parts and trophies going to be destroyed has been collected, which would help to carry out research in coming years. 
The government had destroyed some animal parts and trophies at Tikauli in 2054 BS. RSS
