Ancient idols found in Jumla

JUMLA, April 18: Idols that claimed to be of the 13th century have been found nearby Kanakasundari VDC-7, Dhobighat of Jumla district.

Five ancient idols were detected while digging out for the foundation of rest house beign constructed to provide shelter to internal and external tourists coming to observe Kanakasundari Goddess Temple.


The idols found during excavation seem to be linked with Malla-era civilization of 13th century, said culture expert and history informant Ram Chandra Acharya of Karnali.

The idols detected are of Lord Shiva, Goddess Parbati, Lord Buddha and bull, said Chairperson of Temple Management Committee Nar Bahadur Rawat. One of the idols found is beyond recognition so it is difficult to identify what the idol is about, he added. RSS
