NAWALPARASI, June 23 : The alternative route at Dumkibas along the Butwal–Narayanghat section of the East-West Highway has been completely blocked following continuous rainfall and flooding.
According to Superintendent of Police Yadav Dhakal of the District Police Office, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), heavy water flow in the Kharange stream in Binayi Triveni–3 led to the closure of the alternative route that had been used after a diversion bridge at Dumkibas in Binayi Triveni–1 was swept away.

Previously, a diversion had been constructed after a bridge collapse in the Dumkibas area, and traffic was rerouted through internal roads via Hongshi Gate, Sardi, and Jyamire Highway for small and medium vehicles (up to 12 wheels). However, that route has now also become impassable.
Swollen rivers and streams as a result of incessant rainfall have rendered the temporary diversions unreliable, causing complete disruption of vehicular movement in the Daunne–Dumkibas stretch, police said. Travelers have been facing severe difficulties as all alternative routes remain blocked.
