From vibraphones to dhime drums, artists from seven different countries of the world, from traditional jazz to R&B –the evening was full of diversity. [break]
The closing event saw stellar performances from Dhime Girls, KJC Faculty featuring Nepali rapper Aidray, and the Cadenza Collective from Nepal, Mike Del Ferro of the Netherlands, the Claudia Quintet from the USA, Elaine Amherd from Switzerland accompanied by keyboardist and the Yaité Ramos Quartet from France/Cuba.
As the evening grew chillier, the audience warmed up slowly through music. Mike Del Ferro’s brilliance with the piano awed the audience while Elaine Amherd got the audience singing with her great performance skills and pepped up atmosphere of the night. However, it was Cadenza Collective who really had the audience up on their feet, dancing to the rhythms of ‘Momo Funk’ and ‘Baja Gaja’. Cuban singer and musician Yaité Ramos and her sexy, strong personality on the stage provided the right note to end the night with.
This year was the 11th edition of Surya Nepal Jazzmandu, an annual jazz festival conceptualized by Upstairs Ideas.
