Nepal SBI will play NIC in the first semifinal while NMB will lock horns with Nabil in the other.
NIC confirmed semifinal berth with a six wicket victory over Laxmi Bank. Laxmi scored 44/3, a score that NIC chased in 4.2 overs with Sujan Rai’s 21 not out. The two banks along with Standard Chartered Bank finished with four points in the group and the net run rate favored NIC.
It was also the case with NMB Bank whose six-wicket win over Bank of Asia put them on better run-rate and into the semifinals. NMB finished equal on points with Himalayan Bank and Embassy of India.
After restricting BoA for 41/4, NMB needed four overs for win as Mohan KC (22 not out) and Ujjwal Pradhan (16 not out) took them home.
Embassy of India could have finished atop the group with three wins had it defeated Himalayan Bank in the last match of the day. But their batting failed scoring only 49/5 in the do-or-die match. Himalayan Bank needed just 16 balls to topple the score without losing any wicket.
Nepal SBI reached the semifinal with head-to-head record against Citizen International Bank. Citizen defeated Spice Nepal by 20 runs after scoring 72/1 to finish on equal points but their loss against SBI on Friday ruled them out.
Nabil continued its good run in the tournament with a three-wicket victory over Surya Nepal. Surya got 56/1 – thanks to Trishakti Rana’s 34 not out. Nabil needed 3.5 overs to make 57/3.
In other matches of the day, Nepal Investment Bank (53/3) defeated Spice Nepal (48 all out) by five runs.
