Tamang completed the ultra race in 10 hours 51 minutes 55 seconds to clinch the title. Tirtha Tamang, also of Nepal Army, finished second in the 100km race with a timing of 10:51:75 hours. Upendra Sunuwar of Sindhuli completed the race in 12 hours 10 minutes to take the third position. Sonam Tamang of Bhaktapur and Bhim Gurung of Dang finished fourth and fifth respectively.[break]
Winner Tamang received Rs 80,000 while the runner-up bagged Rs 40,000. The other three in the top five got Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
Likewise, Rajan Chhetri of Okhaldhunga completed the 50km race in 4 hours 11 minutes to claim the gold medal along with Rs 40,000. Narayan Deshar (4 hours 15 minutes) finished second and bagged Rs 20,000. Bhim Gurung (4 hours 18 minutes) took the third place honors.
In the 50km race for Nepali women, Manikala Rai claimed gold with a timing of 6 hours 2 minutes. Yam Kumari Khaling (8 hours 32 minutes) and Shasha Shrestha (8 hours 53 minutes) finished the race in the second and third positions respectively.
Lawchor Kin from Hong Kong won the 100km race for foreigners. Kin completed the race in 13 hours 2 minutes. Lee Grantham from the UK (13 hours 40 minutes) and Markus Slick from Germany (16 hours 48 minutes) secured the second and third positions respectively.
Madan Lal TR from India completed the 70km race in 11 hours 6 minutes to clinch gold while his compatriot Mohit Oberos finished a distant runner-up with a timing of 11 hours 36 minutes.
In the men´s 50km race among foreigners, Tom Belammy from the UK clocked 6 hours 2 minutes to emerge winner while Steve Brammar from Hong Kong (6 hours 25 minutes 59 seconds) and Richard Bull from the UK (6 hours 26 minutes 20 seconds) finished second and third respectively.
World record holder Lizzy Hawker from the UK completed the 10km race in 12 hours 58 minutes to clinch gold in foreign women´s category. Eva Clarke from Australia (17 hours 11 minutes) and Bakiye Duran from Turkey (20 hours 2 minutes) took the second and third place honors.
In the 50km race for foreign women, Janet NG from Hong Kong clocked 5 hours 46 minutes to clinch gold. Cinta Gross from the Netherlands (6 hours 18 minutes) and Kieth Christopherson from Canada (8 hours 8 minutes) claimed silver and bronze medals respectively.
According to event coordinator Ramesh Bhattachan, the ultra race was organized by Nepal Amateur Athletics Association and Nepal Mountain Running Services on Saturday to promote the Annapurna region as an adventure sports destination. The ultra race had started from Dhampus, Kaski and passed through Ghachowk, Lahachowk, Hemja and Nayapul before concluding in Dhampus. Altogether 80 ultra runners from 20 countries had participated in the event.
