Asiad men´s cricket event is scheduled to begin from November 21. [break]Airee has been advised to take rest for at least three weeks and the team will have to look for his alternative.
But, who will replace Airees has not been decided yet. All the indications are that another all-rounder Manjeet Shrestha is likely to be included in the squad who will replace Airee.
Airee has established himself as an ace player for Nepali squad from the 11th South Asian Games (SAG). He had scored a crucial 52 runs against Pakistan during the third place play-off in Bangladesh in February this year.
After his impressive performance in the Pepsi National T20 held on June earlier this year, Airee made his debut in international cricket from ICC World Cricket League Division-4. In the domestic T20, he had scored 102 runs with the average of 25.50. In his debut match against Argentina, Airee scored 38 runs to remain unbeaten.
Shakti Gauchan, Sanjam Regmi and Shrestha had been excluded from the squad, which participated at the Division 4 in Italy.
Manager does not get accreditation card
Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) changed the manager for the women cricket team after Chhatra Adhikari did not get the accreditation card. CAN Vice-president Birendra Singh Gurung has been named as the new manager. Earlier, CAN had appointed Gurung as the manager and correspondent accordingly but later CAN had changed the decision and appointed Adhikari for the role.
Remaining women cricketers leave
The remaining squad of women´s cricket is leaving for Guangzhou on Thursday night. Coach Jung Bahadur Thapa and players Sita Rana Magar, Janaki Bhatta, Melina Rayamajhi and Rekha Rawal are leaving a day later than other members of the squad.
Meanwhile, men´s cricket manager Girijananda Mishra not yet has his accreditation card. Earlier, CAN has decided to send their treasurer Rajbabu Shrestha in the portfolio of manager. But Shrestha was not available due to his personal reasons. Mishra already has the visa for China but the accreditation card has arrived in Shrestha´s name.
Pandey off to Guangzhou
CAN President Binay Raj Pandey is participating in the International Cricket Council (ICC) development committee meeting for the first time to be held during 16th Asian Games. Pandey, also the vice-president of ACC was nominated development committee member two months earlier.
