Aid for jailed mom

DHANKUTA, Nov 22: Nepalis residing in Hong Kong have donated Rs 60,000 to raise a two-month-old son of a woman serving her prison sentence.



United Brothers Club, Dharan, has helped to raise the amount for the son of Pushpa Magar from Panchakanya, Sunsari, who is serving a 10-year sentence for poisoning her husband to death. The amount gathered on the initiation of Bimal Rai of Beltar, Udayapur in Hong Kong, was handed over to the inmate amidst a program held at the Dhankuta district jail on Sunday.







President of the club Devendra Limbu said the assistance came after local media published news about the lack of nutritious food for the kid. Jailer Narendra Acharya said problem arose as the government rules stipulate that a baby can´t get ration in jail before completing six months.
