RASUWA, Nov 25: Agro products worth Rs 770 million have been imported from China via Rasuwagadhi border in the first four months of the current Fiscal Year 2018/19. For the last two years both import and export of agricultural and forest products had been declining. However, in the first four months of the current fiscal year, the country's import via Rasuwagadhi border has increased.
According to the plant quarantine facility at Timure check post, the major import from this border is apple and major export bamboo stool.
Organic agro farm in operation
However, export is negligible in comparison with import. In the first four months of the current fiscal year, 9,066 tons of apple worth Rs 725 million were imported from China. In the previous year, apples worth of Rs 1.95 billion were imported till year end.
Besides apples, garlic, dried mushroom, flour, pears, walnut and raisin are also being imported via this border.
