The locals have decided to upgrade the Bharati Bhawan Higher Secondary School into an agriculture campus with the objective to produce capable manpower in agriculture.[break]
The locals have started fund-raising campaign in order to start the college from the upcoming academic session. They will organize a seven-week Shreemad Bhagwat Mahapuran Gyan Mahayajna early next week as part of the campaign. Interestingly, some locals have already expressed commitment to provide Rs 1.9 million during the yajna, which aims to collect five billion rupees.
The school plans to use the agricultural farms opened at Puranchaur and Sardikhola VDCs as an experimental center for the students. Of late, various agricultural farms have been established in the VDCs where animal farms and dairies, fisheries, and coffee farms among others. They have also decided to rent land and make available for students to practice modern agricultural methods.
Pleased with the plan to establish agriculture campus in their village, locals of Puranchaur VDC have committed to provide their lands to the students for seasonal farming.
According to Dipak Poudel, a teacher at the school, "As majority of the farmers are unskilled and practice traditional farming methods, the country is unable to meet produce enough food. So with the aim to introduce modern technology in farming, we decided to estalish the campus."
