KATHMANDU, Dec 4: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has said that the advertising market should be expanded to ensure the future of community radios in the country.
Addressing the 19th anniversary celebration of the Nepal FM Network on Sunday, CEC Thapaliya said that along with the growth of community radios, the advertising market should also expand.

He said that looking at community radios from the advertising point of view, the situation is dire. He said that in order to sustain the radio in the current situation, advertising should increase by 200 percent.
Thapaliya also mentioned that if the community radios do not merge, their future is in doubt. He said that although the radio has reached every village, the content produced by the radio is the same.
