KATHMANDU,Feb 18: Months of speculation, excitement and news bytes later, the D-day is finally here! Bryan, yes we think we know him well enough now to refer to him just by his first name, won’t reveal the tunes he will be singing; but our very own rockers, who will be sharing the spotlight with him, were more than happy to do so.

Here is what they had to say on the eve of what is christened to be the biggest musical event of Nepal:[break]

1974 AD

One among the Nepali acts to open the Bryan Adams concert will be Nepal’s premier band-- 1974 AD. The band has finalized five songs to perform at the event.

Two of them are from their latest album, “Aath Athara” and three of them are their evergreen hits. Sharing the excitement, Adrian Pradhan, the lead singer of the band said, “I do not have an intense feeling as such but I’m happy for the nation as a whole.

This is a mega event for the Nepali music industry. It’s a historical moment for Nepal.”

1974 AD is scheduled to enter the stage around 6:15 PM and all set to rock the crowd with their eclectic sounds.

They will be the last act before Adams comes on stage. Keeping in mind that a 1974 AD performance will be incomplete without hits like Chudaina Timro Mayale and Yo Mann Ta Mero Nepali Ho, the rockers will be performing Timi Bina from their latest album.

Robin and the New Revolution

All of six feet, our very own Robin dai will be setting the stage for Adams as well. When asked which his favorite Adams’ song is, he said, “Cliché as it might sound, but Summer of 69 for me, is my favorite Adams tune, hands down; Cuts like a knife is another piece I adore.

Excited about the prospect such events open up for the Nepali music scene, Robin dai was quick to point out that Nepal didn’t lack good singers and musicians, and such exposure would only benefit our musicians.

“I hope the organizers are able to pull off the concert, for the message we send is going to affect the future projects. So far so good, I’m hoping for the best,” he adds

Since a number of bands are performing, Robin and the New Revolution, like the other bands, will be on stage for 20 minutes.

Revealing that his band will be performing their famous tunes such as Keta Keti, Bhool ma Bhulyo, Robin dai will also be crooning some of the band’s new songs.

Ishwor Gurung & Namaste Band

Ishwor Gurung back from Japan especially for the Adams’ concert is looking forward to being a part of this historic music event.

“This is a privilege and an honor, and to be doing this in my own country is one of the highlights of my career,” he told Republica.

The highlight of Gurung’s performance is a fusion of four Nepali members who will be doing acoustics and the other four from Japan will be focusing on electronic music.

Shanti Shanti, Malai Pani Hidnalai Baato Chahincha,Chari Maryo and Welcome Nepal are the songs they will be performing at the concert.

“My personal Bryan Adams tune is, everyone’s favorite, Summer of 69,´says the raspy voiced singer.

Looking at this event as a boost to the country’s musical repertoire and a stepping stone for other event, Gurung wishes the organizers all the best.
