Why did you choose to feature the entire album in Hindi?
I also write in Nepali and I’m in the process of taking a Nepali album out, too. I wanted the first album in Hindi because I see a lot of potential in the artists here. I wanted to make a good album featuring Nepali artists and then market it in India. I believe the talents of Nepali artists should also be presented to India, and with this album, it should be easily done.
Tell us about “Dilnashi.”
It took me three and a half years to finish the album. I wanted to make sure that I brought to the audience something of good quality, so I was thoroughly involved in the entire process. Some of the singers had diction problems, which was to be expected, and I worked on that with them. I was also constantly discussing the music and asking for necessary changes. The album has a bit of Nepal for Indian listeners and an Indian flavor for Nepali listeners. People will be pleasantly surprised to hear their favorite Nepali artists sing so well in Hindi. The songs are a mix of romantic and spiritual songs, and in writing them, I have also gone outside my comfort zone. The response has been good so far, and in India, I’m expecting listeners from the Indian northeast region to enjoy it too.
You said you’re working on a Nepali album, too. What will the album be about?
It’ll have seven songs. One will be a nationalistic song, three songs will be romantic, and the rest three will be motivational songs. The motivational songs, I’m sure, will be liked by everyone. It’ll be out in the next six months.
