Acceptance of amendment process depends on result itself: Shukla

KATHMANDU, Feb 22: Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) General Secretary Sarbendra Nath Shukla said that amending constitution is the duty of the government and the United Democratic Madhesi Front can't speak whether it would accept any result regarding the amendment prior to the process.

KATHMANDU, Feb 22: Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) General Secretary Sarbendra Nath Shukla said that amending constitution is the duty of the government and the United Democratic Madhesi Front can't speak whether it would accept any result regarding the amendment prior to the process.



He said the UDMF will not go for elections without the constitution amendment proposal.



Signing a three-point deal with the UDMF the government had expressed commitments to amend the constitution before it was formed. When asked whether the UDMF will accept the results when constitution amendment bill is put to the process, Sukla said that they are not concerned with the results but wants the promises made by the government fulfilled.



TMDP General Secretary Shukla said so at a time when the opposition parties urged the Parliament not to take the constitution amendment forward until the Madhesi Morcha agrees the results that will come out when the process is taken forward.



The House meeting scheduled for 2 pm today has been put off till tomorrow following the request of the opposition parties.
