Sah, a school teacher, said he was brutally tortured for four days in a forest that lies between Saptari and Udaypur districts.[break]
According to Sah, he was forced to stay there by armed abductors. There were nine of them on the first night, six on the second, and just three on Saturday night. He escaped Sunday morning while all the three abductors were asleep. He called Inspector Laldhwaj Subedi of Ward Police Office, Lahan, after arriving close to Kadmaha.
Inspector Subedi said Sah was brought to Lahan from Kadmaha. Sah was semi-conscious when police found him near Kadmaha. Sah has told the police that some of the abductors had familiar faces and he can recognize them if he sees them again. All of them appeared to be of Madhes origin, Sah told police.
Sah was given beaten rice on the first day of captivity, but wasn´t given anything to eat thereafter. He told the police that they often thrashed him and made him make phone calls to his family. On the day of abduction, the abductors demanded three million rupees in ransom from his family members.
Some of the abductors had been calling him up for a while and had been trying to extort Rs 300,000 from him. He said he was abducted for refusing to pay the amount.
The armed group abducted Sah, 40, who resides at Lahan-3, on Thursday afternoon from Laxmipur forest area. Sah has been teaching at Patalebas Secondary School located at Triyuga-11, Udaypur, for the past seven years. Apart from teaching, Sah is also a real estate broker.
