KATHMANDU, Oct 7: The cabinet meeting has decided to allow conducting exams of all educational institutions, boards and universities.

Speaking at a regular press meet on Wednesday, Pradeep Gyawali, the Government Spokesperson, said that the cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to give approval in principle to conduct exams of all levels and natures of all commissions, boards, schools and universities, among others.

The government decision will now pave the way for all universities including Tribhuvan University, schools and educational institutions to conduct the exams which were either halted, delayed or suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak and subsequent containment measures imposed by the government.

However, safety measures and health protocols must be followed while operating any exams, according to Government Spokesperson Gyawali.

“The cabinet decided to give approval in principle to operate exams of any level or nature of any exam commission, university, academy, board, school or educational institution by following safety measures and health protocols introduced by the federal, provincial and local level governments,” he added.

All exams of educational institutions including the Tribhuvan University have been suspended or postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Meanwhile, the government has also decided to allow professional and vocational training institutes to resume their short-term vocational or skill training by following health safety protocols. However, such training providers should not operate classes exceeding more than 25 trainees in a class.
