Ruling NCP’s Secretariat meeting deferred for Tuesday

KATHMANDU, Sept 21: A meeting of the Secretariat of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) scheduled for Monday has been postponed to Tuesday.

According to Narayan Kaji Shrestha, spokesperson for the NCP, the meeting will take place at 12:30 PM at Baluwatar, the prime minister’s official residence, tomorrow. The meeting is expected to finalize the names of leaders to be inducted as ministers in the Oli-led government.

The meeting will primarily dwell on the appointments to the vacant seats in the constitutional bodies including the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and accomplish the remaining tasks of party unification.

Today’s meeting was scheduled to be held at 1 PM at Parisdanda in the capital. Sunday’s Secretariat meeting also dwelt on the issue of Cabinet reshuffle.

The meeting was held at Parisdanda for the first time ever since the unification of the then CPN (UML) and the CPN (Maoist Center) to form the NCP. Top NCP leaders held olicy discussions on the proposed Cabinet reshuffle in the meeting.

Spokesperson Shrestha said that the Cabinet will be reshuffled based on the decision to be taken by the party’s Standing Committee. He also added that preliminary discussions on the criteria for the reshuffle also took place during Sunday’s meeting.

The Secretariat meeting which used to be mostly held either at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence in Baluwatar or at the NCP headquarters in Dhumbarahi, took place for the first time in the building which once served as the headquarters of the then CPN (Maoist Centre) before its merger with the then CPN (UML) in 2018.
