KATHMANDU, March 25: Nepali rupee lost 6 paisa against US dollar this week as the Indian currency, with which rupee is pegged, depreciated against the greenback. Gold price, meanwhile, came down by Rs 945 per 10 grams over the week.CURRENCY
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central regulatory bank, had opened currency trading on Sunday with value of dollar fixed at Rs 106.86. Rupee gained 15 paisa to settle at 106.71 against dollar on Monday. The local currency appreciated by another 6 paisa on Tuesday to Rs 106.65 against the greenback on Tuesday. However, rupee lost 37 paisa to 107.02 against dollar on Wednesday. On Thursday, rupee shed another 12 paisa against to settle at 107.14 against dollar. However, the local currency gained 22 paisa against US dollar on Friday to close the week's trading at Rs 106.92.
However, rupee gained Rs 1.2 against euro and Rs 3.57 against Pound Sterling this week. On Friday, a euro exchanged at Rs 119.43 while Pound Sterling was valued Rs 150.59.
BULLION
Bullion market opened on Sunday with price of gold fixed at Rs 47,585 per 10 grams. Though the price remained unchanged on Monday, it fell Rs 430 per 10 grams on Tuesday to close at Rs 47,155. Gold price came down by another Rs 515 per 10 grams on Wednesday to end the day's trading at Rs 46,640. Price of the yellow metal went up by Rs 85 per 10 grams on Thursday to Rs 46,725. Gold price fell by Rs 85 per 10 grams on Friday to close the week's trading at Rs 46,640.
Price of silver, meanwhile, came down by Rs 12.5 per 10 grams over the week. On Friday, silver was traded at Rs 617.5 per 10 grams.
