95 new stone quarries discovered

KATHMANDU, March 18: The Department of Mines and Geology has found 95 new stone and aggregates quarries at 18 different places in 14 districts across the country.

Planning Division Chief at the Department, Krishna Dev Jha, said the Department under the Ministry of Industry found the quarries in 14 districts in course of a survey after the Cabinet meeting on 27 July 2013 directed it to explore new quarries till January 14, 2015 for the supply of stones, sands and pebbles in a sustainable manner by making the haphazardly operated crusher industries systematic.


The new quarries are in Sirse of Dadeldhura, Rupaskada of Doti, Saharemajhkhanda of Surkhet, Kapurkot of Salyan, Tiram of Pyuthan, Thanda of Arghakhachi, Masyam of Palpa, Darechowk and Gothedanda of Chitwan, Bhainse of Makawanpur, Tinkanya and Ranichuri of Sindhuli, Jalpa of Udaypur, Bhedetar of Dhakuta, Chisapani of Ilam and Thosnekhola of Kathmandu, among other places.
