9.3 million proportional votes counted, UML leading

KATHMANDU, Nov 28: A total of 9,305,766 proportional votes have been counted in the elections to the House of Representatives and the provincial assemblies held on November 20.

Under the proportional electoral system, the popularity of a political party is determined by voting on the election symbol of the political party. According to the Election Commission, according to the votes counted so far, CPN-UML has received 2,534,323 votes.

Nepali Congress has got 2,399,831 votes, Rastriya Swatantra Party 1,063,718 votes, CPN (Maoist Center) 1,062,747 votes. Similarly, Rastriya Prajatantra Party has got 545,656 votes, and Janata Samajwadi Party 326,372 votes so far and have crossed the threshold to be recognized as a national level party.

The parties struggling to cross the threshold include the CPN (Unified Socialist) and the Janmat Party. According to the details of the Commission, the Janamat Party has received 262,826 votes, while the Unified Socialist Party has received 252,27 votes. These parties expect to cross the threshold when the counting of proportional votes is completed.

According to the Commission, Nagarik Unmukti Party has got 237,962 votes, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party has got 127,918 votes, Nepal Workers’ and Peasants’ Party has got 72,800 votes, Hamro Nepali Party has got 52,843 votes, Mongol National Organization has got 45,663 votes. Similarly, Rastriya Janamorcha has got 44,873 votes, Nepal Federal Socialist Party 31,229 votes and CPN-UML has got 26,971 votes.

A total of 47 parties participated in the election process under the proportional election system. Among them, the Nationalist People's Party, which stood last, has received 1,694 votes.

Likewise, the Commission has continued the proportional counting of votes for the provinces. In Province 1, as many as 15,84,869 votes have been counted, 1,625,758 votes in Madhesh province, 1,598,434 votes in Bagmati Province, 918,839 in Gandaki Province, 1859,062 in Lumbini Province, 577,829 in Karnali Province and 807,838 votes in Sudurpaschim province have been counted.
