KATHMANDU, March 1: The government on Sunday urged one and all to avoid public gatherings including conferences, assemblies and feasts to prevent the outbreak of coronavirus.
Minister for Health and Population Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal urged the people to take precautionary measures and not to hold any event that require a public gathering as this viral outbreak that originated from China has spread to as many as 63 countries infecting 86,000 and killing 2,900 as of Sunday evening.
On the occasion, the minister also informed that the government has been applying precautionary measures and making preparations in various stages to avoid this viral outbreak. According to him, strict vigil has been maintained at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), the only international airport of the country.
"We allow a person to fly abroad once s/he is tested negative against coronavirus," he said adding that government has made necessary arrangements for the treatment in various hospitals if one is found infected by the novel virus.
With this, Sagarmatha Dialogue which is scheduled to be held on March seems to be affected.
