KATHMANDU, Jan 12: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Sunday sent a message of condolences to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said on the passing away of Qaboos bin Said Al Said, Sultan of the Sultanate of Oman.
In her message, President Bhandari extended heartfelt condolences to the members of the royal family and Government and the people of Oman, according to a press release issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs this evening.

Bhandari recalled that the late Sultan was a visionary statesman who made a tremendous contributions to peace, progress, and prosperity of his people and played important role for fostering peace, stability and cooperation in the region, according to the press release.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mr. K P Sharma Oli also sent a message of condolences to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said today expressing deep sadness on the passing away of His Majesty Qaboos bin Said Al Said, Sultan of the Sultanate of Oman. In the message, Oli stated that Nepal has lost a good friend and well-wisher in the demise of late Sultan.
