Digital connectivity training kicks off<br/>Adidas hands over shoes

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: A two-day training on increasing digital connectivity among member states of the SAARC region started in Kathmandu on Tuesday.



The training, participated by high-level representatives of telecom, mass communication and other ICT wings of Nepal, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and the Bangladesh Embassy in Nepal, aims to develop a model to improve the management and dissemination of information in the region using ICT. "Creating communication highways across the region can create synergy effects and open up avenues to promote economic and other ties among the people of this region and strengthen peace, harmony and understandings among them," Minister for Information and Communication Shankar Pokharel said, inaugurating the training.



The training, which is being conducted by ICT experts Dinuka Perera of Sri Lanka and Gaurab Upadhyaya of Nepal, also deals with the aspects that need to be looked while country´s bureaucracy and registries move from analog data to digital and the need for standardization of input to create uniformity. The training is organized by SAARC Information Center.





Adidas hands over shoes



KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Roots Fashion, the authorized distributor of Adidas for Nepal, has donated around 1,000 pairs of shoes, collected in its recent promotional campaign, to the needy people in Karnali. The shoes were collected in Adidas´ "Old Shoe Exchange Month" campaign that ran between July 10 and August 10.



Roots had offered Rs 1,500 off on Adidas shoes costing less than Rs 6,000 and Rs 2,000 on those above Rs 6,000 in exchange for the customers´ old sports shoes, which had to be in wearable conditions.



According to a statement, Sanjiv Tuladhar, managing director, Roots Fashion, handed over the shoes to Center for Karnali Rural Promote and Society Development or CDS-PARK, a non-profit organization based in Karnali and run by local youths, for the distribution.





Mero Mobile Customer Care Center in Biratnagar



KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Spice Nepal Pvt Ltd, the operator of Mero Mobile, has opened a Customer Care Center in the city of Biratnagar. The company´s fourth such center, located in front of Sanni Mandir, Dharan Road, will start operations from Wednesday.



The center will sell Mero Mobile SIM cards, recharge cards and offer services like SIM change, and inquiry on any problems or information that subscribers need.



Spice Nepal also said it is expanding its network coverage all over Nepal and also plans to increase the number of Customer Care Centers to cover all regions of the country.
