Kuwait, which had defeated Jordan 2-1 on Friday, stands on top of the standings with four points. Host Iran, scheduled to play against Jordan late Sunday, has three points and could climb on top if it achieves win.

Earlier in its opener on Friday, Nepal conceded five goals on either side of the break against host Iran.

Iran netted two goals in the first two minutes to dominate the match from the onset to the final whistle. Skipper Reza Chaab scored four goals alone, while Nima Mokhtari and Reza Shekari netted twice each. Ali Shojaei added one for Iran.

Inspired by its success in the SAFF U-19 Championship and U-16 team's qualification for the finals of the AFC U-16 Championship, the youth team had left for Iran with the hope of reaching the final round. However, the humiliating defeat against host has given a big blow to Nepal's hope.

Nepal had claimed the SAFF U-19 Championship title last month at the home turf while the U-16 team qualified for the AFC U-16 Championship finials through Qualifiers held in Kyrgyzstan.
