Birgunj hospitals resume services

BIRGUNJ, Aug 30: Hospitals in Birgunj that were closed to protest mistreatment of a doctor by a patient´s relatives at Narayani Sub-regional Hospital reopened from Sunday afternoon.



The hospitals resumed services after the guilty apologized to the doctors and committed not to repeat such act in the future.



All public and private hospitals in Birgunj had remained shut after Rajdev Chaurasiya of Chhapkaiya mistreated and manhandled Dr Pappu Jaiswal on Thursday night. Health workers had called an indefinite strike from Friday demanding legal action against Chaurasiya.



Meanwhile, health workers and staff continue to padlock the main gate of National Medical College in Birgunj. They are on an indefinite strike since Friday morning demanding appointment of three of their colleagues who were expelled by the management.
