BIRGUNJ, Aug 29: All public and private hospitals in Birgunj remained closed for a second consecutive day on Saturday protesting the mistreatment of a doctor at the Narayani Sub-regional Hospital by relatives of a patient.

The hospitals haven´t provided even emergency services since Friday after Dr Pappu Jaiswal was manhandled Thursday night. The protest will continue till the guilty persons are brought to book, vowed secretary of the Narayani branch of Nepal Medical Association Dr Roshan Ali.

The strike has affected patients from Bara, Parsa and Rautahat who have been forced to hop across the border to Raxaul.
