KATHMANDU, July 25: Former Prime Minister and UCPN (Maoist) leader Baburam Bhattarai on Saturday remaked that parliamentary system has failed to yield success in Nepal.

Speaking at an interaction organized in favor of directly-elected executive head, leader Bhattarai opined that right person at wrong system can’t ensure good results.

He was of the opinion that people are for change in forms of governance after observing parliamentary system for long.

“People are in favor of change. Strong voices for directly elected executive head clearly indicate that,” Bhattarai said.

On the occasion he said Nepal adopted parliamentary system for 31 years starting from 1950 and no Prime Minister completed his tenure during the period.

Saying that parliamentary system has been proven inappropriate in context of Nepal, Bhattarai said other forms of governance are yet to be examined.

“New, dynamic and popular leadership has failed to develop owing to tendency of one person serving as PM time and again,” he said.
