Dozen houses gutted in fire incidents in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT, March 11: Around a dozen houses were gutted in separate incidents of fire in three different VDCs of Rautahat district on Tuesday. At least five houses in Phatuwa Maheshpur VDC and six houses in Gangapipara VDC were gutted in separate incidents of fire.



Likewise, in another incident a truck parked near Nepal Telecom’s office based in Garuda municipality was also gutted in fire, according to DSP Bidur Khadka of Armed Police Force (APF).

In Phatuwa Maheshpur, the fire started from local Rameshwor Mahato’s house at around 5 pm and engulfed four other houses belonging to Phaguni Mahato, Binod Mahato, Bigu Mahato and Manichan Mahato.


Properties worth over Rs 1 million was destroyed in the fire, DSP Khadka said. Security personnel and locals were able to contain fire in an hour. Similarly, properties worth over Rs 1.5 m were gutted when six houses and two sheds were gutted in the fire in a Dalit settlement of Gangapipara VDC, according to Area Police Office.
