JANAKPUR, Aug 6: Altogether 72 UCPN (Maoist) cadres including district in-charges of Dhanusha and Mahottari have quit the party on Friday alleging that the party nominated two lawmakers against the recommendation of the Mithila state committee of the party.

The Maoist party had appointed Farmud Nadaf (Dhanusha) and Ram Kumar Paswan (Siraha) on Thursday after the Supreme Court quashed a writ petition filed by Matrika Prasad Yadav and Jagat Prasad Yadav. [break]

The Yadavs were expelled from the UCPN (Maoist) after they formed their own Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) when the present day UCPN (Maoist) was announced following the party´s unification with the People´s Front Nepal.

The Mithila State Committee had recommended Tara Devi Mahato, the widow of a Maoist martyr, for appointment as lawmaker.

The newly-appointed CA member Nadaf joined the Maoist party in 2006. Those quitting the party have alleged that the the UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee ignored the contribution made by Tara Devi. She is currently serving as central secretary of the Maoist-affiliated Madhesi National Liberation Front.

According to Roshan Janakpuri, the decision made by District Working Committee has already been sent to centre through the party´s state committee coordinator. They have decided not to bear any responsibility of the party and boycott all the programs of the party´s central committee and state committee until the party revokes the decision.
