71st Int’l Everest Day celebrated in Kathmandu (Photo Feature)

KATHMANDU, May 29: The 71st International Everest Day-2024 is being celebrated today with various special programs.

Everest Summiteers Association, Department of Tourism, Nepal Mountaineering Instructors Association (NMIA), Union of Trekking-Travels-Rafting-Airlines Workers, Nepal jointly organized a march to commemorate the 71st International Everest Day-2024.

The march began from Sanchaya Kosh Bhawan in Thamel and proceeded through Tridevi Marg, Durbar Marg, and Ghantaghar before culminating at the Nepal Academy in Kamaladi.

The day marks the first successful ascent of Mount Everest. It has been 71 years since Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary first reached the summit in 1953.
