The Supreme Court on August 14 last year had convicted former home minister Khadka of corruption charges and slapped a one-and-a-half-year jail sentence on him with confiscation of the corruption amount Rs 9.47 million and a fine of the same amount.

However, he got the 20 percent discount in both jail sentence and fines as per the legal provision after he surrendered before the court within 60 days of a guilty verdict.

Meanwhile, hundreds of his supporters had thronged since early morning outside the Dillibazar prison to receive Khadka.
