KATHMANDU, July 28: Central committee members of the main opposition Nepali Congress have demanded an early general convention to reinvigorate the party.
During an ongoing Central Working Committee Meeting at the party headquarters, Sanepa, the NC central committee members exerted pressure on the party leadership to fix the dates for the party's 14th general convention as early as possible.
Sources hinted that Deuba is reluctant to hold the general convention according to the party's calendar.
Party Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma told reporters that remaining issues will be discussed at the CC meeting once the leaders forge consensus to organize the general convention.
NC central committee member Arjun Narsingh KC opined that the general convention should be held as per the calendar set by the party in line with the party's internal regulations.
