7.8 million rupees allocated to conserve endangered Red Panda

Illam, Dec 28: Sandakpur Rural Municipality has signed a contract of 7.8 million rupees to protect and conserve Red Panda. The wildlife spans an area of 200 ropanis of land at Maipatal of Sulubung in Sandakpur.

Illam, Dec 28: Sandakpur Rural Municipality has signed a contract of 7.8 million rupees to protect and conserve Red Panda. The wildlife spans an area of 200 ropanis of land at Maipatal of Sulubung in Sandakpur. 


Maipatal is a popular area for Red Panda. The municipality is carrying out the rare wildlife conservation in collaboration with the Red Panda Network. The municipality is working with a contractor to create an environment to manage and protect  Red Panda in the area.

According to Giriraj Khanal, spokesperson of the municipality, big trees will also be cut down to enable a protective environment for Red Panda. “Saplings of local species will also be planted”, he added. 


Meanwhile, the rural municipality has developed a plan to plant saplings of various species in 700 ropanis of land at Jauwari.
