Sitaula also informed that Kumar laid stress on holding the new Constituent Assembly polls in order to usher Nepal towards peace, prosperity and stability.

Kumar also expressed concern over cross-border criminal activities being carried out taking advantage of the porous Nepal-India border. He has suggested that the two countries work out a bilateral solution to resolve the problem of cross-border crime.

The duo also discussed the devastation caused in Bihar and in Nepal due to flooding in Gandak and Koshi rivers every year. The Koshi floods in 2008 had inflicted mass destruction on life and property on both sides of the border.

During the meeting, the duo recalled the days they spent behind bars during the height of Jayaprakash Narayan Movement in Bihar.

Referring this as a “goodwill” visit to Bihar, Sitaula said the meeting was held in most cordial environment as Koirala and Kumar share a long personal friendship and political association.

Kumar has been the chief minister of Bihar since 2005. He was previously a union minister of India. He belongs to the Janata Dal (United) party and is in the limelight in India at present as he quit the NDA (National Democratic Alliance - the opposition block in India led by the Bharatiya Janata Party) recently.

As chief minister, he gained popularity by initiating a series of developmental and constructive activities and for the recent economic boom in Bihar.
