The 28 families of Bhojpur village of the VDC have been taking refuge at local Jayakishan Secondary school for the past five days after the Rapti River gushed into their village due to the Indian-built embankments.

According to Jangarana Rad, a local, they are without food and have gone without proper sleep for the last five days. "We are even unable to feed our children properly," said Rad.

According to Mewalal Rad, another local, inundation is the problem they have been facing during monsoons for the last four years. Those who work as daily wage laborers have been the most affected lot among the displaced ones.

"Our place is unsafe as the Rapti water directly gushes into our village. We should be relocated to a safer area," said Om Prakash Yadav.

Mahendra Jung Shahi, officer at the Area Administration Office in Nainapur, said that Rapti River has displaced over 200 people of Bhojpur village and its surrounding area. He also underscored the need for relocating the displaced.
