Student unions call off Sunday's banda

KATHMANDU, May 11: Agitating various student unions on Saturday called off the proposed Nepal banda called for Sunday.



A meeting of the various students affiliated to various parties including CPN-UML and Nepali Congress(NC) held at the office of All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) decided to put off the proposed strike scheduled for Sunday.[break]



According to UP Lamichhane, spokesperson for Nepal Students Union affiliated to the NC, they withdrew tomorrow´s citing possible negative impact on the life of general people due to frequent bandas as well as to concentrate their focus on the upcoming elections of Free Student Union.



Student unions affiliated to NC, CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist and others have been protesting the government move to appoint controversial former chief secretary Lok Man Singh Karki as the chief of Commission for the investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
