From Rock to piano ballads, The Week brings to you yet another set of music albums for you to indulge during this weekend.

Wrecking Ball by Bruce Springsteen

This is the 17th studio album by The Boss, released on 2012. It was named the Best Album of 2012 by Rolling Stone, and along with the album’s first single, “We Take Care of Our Own,” it was nominated for three Grammy Awards.

According to Springsteen, in 2009, he wrote his first song about a “guy that wears a tie.” He has “spent much of his career writing about characters struggling in tough economic times, but the financial crisis reportedly convinced him it was time to write about the people and forces that brought America to this ‘ugly point.’ The album is an indictment of Wall Street greed and corruption and a look into the devastation it has wrought.[break]

El Camino by The Black Keys

This is the seventh studio album by the American Rock band, The Black Keys. The record draws from popular genres of the 1950s to the 1970s, such as Rock n Roll, Glam Rock, Rockabilly, Surf Rock, and Soul.

In the US, El Camino debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and sold 206,000 copies in its first week. This marks the highest album charting position and single-week sales the group has achieved in the country. Rolling Stone ranked them as the 12th Best Album of 2011. At the 2013 Grammy Awards, The Black Keys won the award for Best Rock Album for El Camino, and Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song for “Lonely Boy.”

Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys

This is the fifth studio album by American recording artist Alicia Keys. The album was released on November 22 and was conceived shortly after Keys’ marriage to record producer and Rapper Swizz Beatz as well as the birth of her first child, Egypt.

The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 Chart with first-week sales of 159,000 copies, becoming her fifth number-one album in the United States. The album has a balance of conventional R&B songs and piano ballads. The album’s music is typified by Keys’ heightened singing, piano playing, and a minimalist production. It also showcases her attempt at different styles, which range from Electro Soul and Hip Hop, to Rock and Reggae flourishes.
