The Ministry of Labor and Transport Management (MoLTM) had recently sent the names of 170 selected manpower companies to JITCO- a Japanese government institution that helps develop human resources in developing countries through internships and training.
“JITCO demanded detailed information about those manpower agencies. So we will sent individual particulars within two or three days to JITCO, which will establish contacts with local employers seeking foreign industrial trainee-workers,” Purna Chandra Bhattarai, joint secretary at MoLTM, told myrepublica.com on Tuesday.
The Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) had sent the particulars of the designated manpower agencies to MoLTM on Monday.
The details include names of the companies, proprietors, office addresses, operating licenses, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses and correspondence addresses, among other things.
“JITCO will distribute the details of the manpower agencies to different Japanese enterprises and co-ordinate the process of recruiting trainee-workers as per the employers´ demands,” said Bhattarai.
Nepal signed an agreement with JITCO last year to provide opportunities to Nepalis to work at Japanese enterprises as industrial trainees.
As per the agreement, MoLTM in May selected 170 companies out of 195 aspirants for government authorization to send Nepali trainees to the largest Asian economy.
The foreign employment firms were selected on the basis of number of overseas workers sent in the past, office network in the five regions, moral track record, financial, physical and human resources and contribution to national coffers in the past, among other things.
Under a similar agreement signed in 2003 with JITCO, the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) on May 15 sent six women interns to work in the Japanese garment industry. The women trainees will remain in Japan for three years and rejoin their organizations back in Nepal after completion of the trainee-period.
