Locals of 11 VDCs in the Sinja region of the district said it is good that the zonal hospital has been upgraded into the teaching hospital but it will be wretched if the zonal hospital melts away in the name of advancement. [break]They have demanded that the zonal should be switched to other part of the district where health facility is meager.
A health worker at Birat VDC in Sinja region, Natra Bahadur Khatri said it is appropriate to shift the zonal hospital to the Sinja region as the region is privileged with all kind infrastructure of the development including road facilities.
According to him, if the zonal hospital is established in the region, people from Mugu, Kalikot, Bajura and Humla distrcts along with locals in Sinja region can easily get access to health facilities.
The rumor of the collapse of the zonal hospital has also dejected employees in the zonal hospital, fear of losing the job. Chakra Bahadur Hamal, Nepal Workers Farmer Party´s Sinja representative said the government should not curtail the already provided service to locals but on the contrary it should be extended.
Giri Lal Karki, former vice-president of the district development committee in Jumla district said all the stakeholders in the district should get united to relocate the zonal hospital in the Sinja region.
Currently, inhabitants of the Sinja area are holding discussion to relocate the hospital. “We have aimed to endorse the demand in the Jumla district council by March 11,” informed Ram Prasad Sharma, a local. He further said locals will not hesitate to pour in streets if their demand are not addressed.
However, the zonal hospital has already submitted the hospital physical infrastructure and other medical equipment to the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences and Teaching Hospital.
