Weather to improve Thursday on: Met Dept

KATHMANDU, Feb. 5: Many places in the country including the capital received precipitation since Monday night due to the influence of the westerly winds.



According to the Weather Forecasting Division, most places in the country except the districts of the east Tarai received rain. Similarly, high altitude and mountainous districts including Mustang, Manang and Jomsom received snowfall.[break]



The westerly winds originate from the Meditteranian Sea during the winter and blow eastwards reaching Nepal. There is fluctuation in temperature and the weather depending on the movement of the westerly winds.



Weatherman Min Kumar Aryal said that although the sky in Kathmandu is overcast, it might rain in the evening after a fall in mercury as it is not windy. This condition might continue until Wednesday.



He said that however it would not be cold in Kathmandu despite the rain as the temperature here has already risen, adding that there are signs the weather would improve from Thursday. Kathmandu received 1.5 millimetres of rain until the morning today.



Meanwhile, a news report from Bajura, a district in the mountainous region in the far-west region, states that life in the mountainous districts in the region has been affected due to the rain accompanied by snowfall since the last three days.



The report states that most of the districts in the mountainous region got snowfall since Sunday evening.Roads have been blocked thereby making the movement of people and vehicles in these districts difficult.



However, the farmers are happy after the precipitation as it will be good for their winter crops.
