Similarly, the statistics provided by the Education Division of the Ministry of Education, shows 969 schools were found partly damaged.
According to the report, 12 teachers in Sindhupalchwok, eight teachers and 36 students in Nuwakot, and 10 students in Rasuwa were killed in the earthquake.
Similarly, six students and five teachers in Dhading, four teachers in Gorkha and two students in Kavrepalanchowk were killed in the earthquake. The report says that a large number of schools in Solukhumbu, Ramechhap, Dolakha, Lamjung, Tanahun and Bhojpur districts were found damaged by the quake.
According to the report, eight schools in Kathmandu, nine in Lalitpur and one in Bhaktapur were completely damaged due to the earthquake.
Likewise, 99 per cent schools in Bhaktapur and Lalitpur and 90 per cent schools in Kathmandu are used as alternative shelters for quake victims.
Khagendra Nepal, chief at the division said that the schools in the districts which were closed after the massive earthquake would be resumed since May 15.
Rs 92.9 million quake damage to schools in Chitwan
Meanwhile, in Chitwan, the earthquake damaged 60 schools in Chitwan district causing loss of Rs 92.9 million, as per the preliminary estimates.
The District Education Officer Damodar Acharya said 60 out of over 500 schools in the district have been completely damaged by the earthquake, adding that the number of damaged school infrastructure might climb to 150. RSS
